(Crisp) Movie Review: INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR by FENIL SETA

Insidious: The Red Door is a missed opportunity. The first four parts had recurring characters who had become the faces of the franchise and their presence added a lot. Sadly, most of them are simply wasted in this fifth and final part. The new characters fail to entice. The jump scares are well-done at places but they are few and far between. We have seen far better horror sequences not just in the previous parts of Insidious but also in other horror films. The actors try their best to rise above the script. Patrick Wilson fails as a director but is fine as an actor. Ty Simpkins (Dalton) leaves a mark. Sinclair Daniel (Chris Winslow) is lovely. Rose Byrne (Renai) doesn't have much to do and the same goes for Steve Coulter (Carl), Leigh Whannell (Specs), Leigh Whannell (Tucker) and Hiam Abbass (Professor Armagan). All in all, Insidious: The Red Door is a needless sequel.
