Anees Bazmee delivered his first hit film as a director with Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. Interestingly, the entire script was written overnight. “I had seen the Hollywood film French Kiss (1995), but didn’t think I’d want to do something [similar]. But, it suddenly struck me that I could, so I made the ending of that movie my film’s interval point. By 10 am the next day, I had completed the script,” he reveals.

The next person he called, Bazmee says, was actor Ajay Devgn, whom he worked with in Hulchul (1995). “Ajay said, ‘Kajol ko le lete hain, she’s a very good actor’. Within three-four days, she was approached. She said yes and within a week, we started shooting,” he recalls.

Devgn and Kajol got married a year after the film released. How were they on set? “They were quite serious about each other. Unhe dekhke feel aata tha ki Inshallah shaadi hogi inki,” says Bazmee.
