After a decade-long hiatus, actor Harman Baweja made a powerful comeback to the screen with the web show Scoop, directed by filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Baweja’s portrayal of JCP Shroff in the series has got him widespread praise.
Grateful for the recognition his acting skills are now receiving, Baweja says, “While they are appreciating my work, I hope they are a little more gracious than they need to be to make up for the things they wrote about me in the past.”
Did Baweja, who is the son of film director Harry Baweja, feel that the industry treated him unfairly and did not offer him enough opportunities compared to his contemporaries, when his 2008 film Love Story 2050 tanked?
“Bollywood functions as an industry governed by economics and talent. When the economics don’t align, opportunities fade away, and that’s understandable,” he explains, adding, “What felt more unjust were the personal attacks made against me.”
