I Love You, which was released today on Jio Cinema, is an unofficial remake of a Hollywood film P2 (it’s already been remade unofficially in Hindi before). It’s the story of a corporate professional stuck in an office building. The plot is intriguing and the first 20-25 minutes are engaging. Writer-director Nikhil Mahajan has gone creative in certain places and it makes for a nice touch. However, after a point, nothing much happens. Even though it’s just 93 minutes long, it still feels lengthy. Some developments in the pre-climax and climax are unconvincing and even forced. Speaking of performances, Rakul Preet Singh delivers a fine performance and handles the lead part with panache. Pavail Gulati gives one of the best performances of his career. Akshay Oberoi is okay in a cameo. Kiran Kumar is wasted. All in all, I Love You is a weak film.
