The Flash starts on a rocking note. The hospital scene is one of the greatest scenes ever in a superhero film! The first half is truly entertaining and maddening and keeps the interest going. The second half, however, gets too heavy emotionally. The humour quotient goes out of the window and that’s not good news for a film which has been promoted as an out-and-out entertainer. The recent superhero film, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, also had strong emotional moments but that didn’t mean the light and comic scenes were forgotten. A balance needs to be done which the makers here failed to do. Even the villain track and action scenes don’t work as intended. Speaking of performances, Ezra Miller is terrific. He plays two personalities which are diverse yet a bit similar and the way he has handled it is praiseworthy. Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are dependable. Sasha Calle (Supergirl) is decent at best. Maribel Verdú (Nora) is lovely and her scenes work big time. Ron Livingston (Barry’s father) is okay. Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) doesn’t get much scope. The various cameos in the film add to the surprise element. All in all, The Flash is worth watching for its plot, performances and incredible first half.
