1920: HORRORS OF THE HEART had collections on the lower side at around 80-85 lakhs nett on Monday although the drop is only in the 40% range. The film had to hold better on Monday to really have some sort of run. The weekend collections of the film were 5 crore nett and the film should do around 7.50 crore nett for the week.
The opening day was respectable as compared to many films of the last year or so which were bigger films but the film could not really go on from there. The horror genre always has potential and can open even though films are made on a budget.
The plus is that first day which again shows that films that cater more towards mass circuits have potential of getting more more numbers. A film like AN ACTION HERO which aims at the metros got around 1.20 crore nett and this 1920 film with no promotion opened at 1.40 crore nett.
As far as the industry is concerned, it does not need telling from us the difference of awareness and size of these two films. Simply put there is NO WAY that 1920 should be opening better than AN ACTION HERO and it would have not happened pre pandemic. But with the change in box office demographics today, the numbers are there for all to see.
The box office numbers of 1920: HORRORS OF THE HEART till date are as follows.
Friday - 1,40,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,65,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 5,90,00,000 apprx
