There’s always a bit of extra excitement for the audience when a real-life couple shares screen space. From Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor in Brahmastra: Part One Shiva to Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and '83, Bollywood couples have woven magic on screen together.
Recently, when we caught up with Malaika Arora and asked her whether she would want to work with her beau Arjun Kapoor, she said, “We haven’t worked together, but I am sure it will be fun. I am sure there will be work differences, but that is fine because when you work together you might have differences with your co-actors.”
Known for her hit dance numbers like Chaiyya Chaiyya, Munni Badnaam Hui and Anarkali Disco Chali, ask Malaika if she would like to shake a leg with Arjun in a filmi track and she shares, “See, someone has toapproach us na, but now that you have said it, I will manifest it.”
Talking about song and dance, South films have become the flavour of the season, with numbers like Naatu Naatu, Oo Antava Mava and Ra Ra Rakkamma becoming massive pan-India hits. Interestingly, Malaika has had a tryst with Telugu numbers like Kevvu Keka with Pawan Kalyan in Gabbar Singh (2012) and Rathraina with Mahesh Babu in the movie Athidhi (2007).
Speaking about being a part of these songs, she says, “I have had the good fortune of doing a couple of south songs, which have been really amazing. However, it’s a little difficult to mouth the lyrics of the song and to understand the meaning, but I had a great time shooting for it. Overall, I love dancing and I would always like to be a part of a good chartbuster in any language.”
