Blackbucks to death threats, Salman tells all
BOMBAY TIMES (May 1, 2023)

In the last year, Salman Khan has received several death threats and has to move around with increased security. Addressing this, Salman recently said on a TV show, “Security is better than insecurity...Now it is not possible to ride a bicycle on the road and go alone anywhere. And more than that, now I have this problem that when I am in traffic, then there is so much security, vehicles creating inconvenience to other people...There is a serious threat that’s why there is security.”

He added, “Now there are so many Shera’s around me, so many guns are going around with me that I am myself scared these days.”

SALMAN’S SECURITY AMPED UP IN THE LAST YEAR
Salman’s security was upgraded from X to Y+ last year. Following death threats, the actor was provided with Y+ category security by the Mumbai police in November after the actor and his father Salim received a threat letter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang just days after Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder.

Before Salman’s security was upgraded, the actor also took some measures. He applied for a weapon licence for self-protection, which was granted to him following a standard procedure. The actor also invested in a bulletproof car, which, according to reports, comes with B6 or B7 levels of protection. B7 level of protection means the vehicle stops various armour-piercing rounds fired from super high-velocity rifles, even sniper rifles.

Salman Khan recently did an explosive interview, wherein the actor spoke at length about several aspects of his life. Right from his wish to be a father to his security concerns, the Tubelight actor shed light on several controversial topics in a tell all interview with Aap Ki Adaalat.

On his wish to be a dad
Khan said that he once thought about having a child but was unable to, citing “the laws in India”. He said, “Abhi kya bolun, woh toh plan tha. Lekin law ke hisaab se woh Hindustan mein ho nahin sakta. Toh ab dekhenge kya karein. I love kids; lekin kids jab aate hain toh maa bhi aati hai. Humare ghar mein maa hi maa padi hain, sir. Woh unka achcha khayal rakh lengi. Lekin unki maa, jo real maa hongi, woh meri patni hogi,” the actor joked.

On low-neckline row
The actor also reacted to the fracas around him having a rule about prohibiting women on his sets from wearing low necklines. “Auraton ki bodies kahin zyada precious hai. The more covered they are, the better it is,” he said, adding, “Jis hisaab se ladke ladkiyon ko dekhte hain, aapki behenein, biwiyon ko, maaon ko, I don’t like it. I don’t want them to go through this,” he said.

On death threats
The actor, who was granted Y+ category security by the Mumbai Police amid death threats recently, rues, “There are so many Sheras (referring to his bodyguard, Shera) and guns around me now, that I am [all the more] scared.” The 57-year-old also lamented the fact that “the security creates so much inconvenience” amid traffic. “I know whatever is going to happen, will happen, no matter what you do,” he said on a philosophical note.

On poaching case
Asked about the blackbuck poaching case, where he was accused of killing two blackbucks in Rajasthan in 1998, he said, “I seriously don’t know. Our judiciary is very capable. Whatever the decision will be, we will accept it. Bring it on.”
