The Internet Apologized To 'Misunderstood' Suhas From 3 Idiots. Actor Olivier Lafont Took Note

BOMBAY TIMES (April 29, 2023)

After over a decade of the film’s release, Suhas Tandon from the coming-of-age friendship comedy-drama 3 Idiots has caught the attention of netizens and how. While the audience mostly made fun of the snooty ‘price tag’ Suhas, played by Olivier Lafont, when the film hit the big screen back in 2009, a recent viral tweet has thrown light on “the other side of Suhas”.

Twitter user Aaraynsh wrote, “Suhas, I used to laugh at you as a kid, but as I grew up, I realised you were a good man. Losing a four-lakh rupee watch, for which you had worked tirelessly, would drive anyone crazy. I now understand now how it feels when a pair of 400 dollar shoes get dirty. Everyone dreams of earning more money, and you were not wrong in making your career choice. Tumne sab kamaya tha shyad islye tumhe keemat yaad thi :) (sic).”

Soon the tweet started trending on social media, and other netizens began to see Suhas from a new perspective. The platform was abuzz with apologies to the character for misunderstanding his obsession with money. The post garnered over 1.5 million views, 13k likes and over 1,500 retweets.

As the tweet gained popularity, Lafont also commented on it. “Lately I’ve been getting messages from people ‘apologizing’ about misunderstanding the character of Suhas Tandon...It’s amazing that both the movie and character had such an impact then, and even now. It’s also nice that Suhas is finally getting some love,” he wrote.
