Ponniyin Selvan – Part 2 (Hindi), just like the first part, turns out to be confusing for the Hindi audiences. There are too many characters and things are not simplified. Hence, those who are not aware of the history and the background of the characters will be left scratching their heads. Moreover, palaces look the same and it’s difficult to comprehend which character is in which place. Even if we keep this factor aside, the storytelling is not convincing. Enemies become friends and vice versa randomly. They don’t seem to have solid grounds to switch sides. A few scenes stand out, on the positive side. And the performances are great. Jayam Ravi, Vikram and Karthi are excellent. One won’t get to see Karthi’s comic timing this time though. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, as expected, is damn good. Special mention should also go to Sara Arjun, who plays the younger Aishwarya. She leaves a huge mark. Trisha is decent while Prakash Raj is dependable. Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi are wasted. Others are okay. Music is a letdown but A R Rahman’s background score is exhilarating. All in all, Ponniyin Selvan – Part 2 (Hindi) fails to impress.
