Aditya Roy Kapur is no stranger to love from fans and grand gestures of admiration. But that it can also get out of hand in no time was illustrated when a female fan got uncomfortably close to the actor and tried to kiss him. Handling situations like this can be tricky, but Kapur managed it without hurting any sentiments in the process.

“This fan love is very flattering. One only feels gratitude for it. At the end of the day, if people are appreciating you, spending hours waiting for you to come somewhere, it’s so good. I can understand where someone might get over intrusive, but it is not something I felt frazzled by. I can understand,” says Kapur.

Fan obsession, which crosses boundaries and violates celebs’ personal space, is never acceptable, but the 37-year-old feels the fan didn’t “mean any harm”. “It (the kiss) might not have been an appropriate thing, but it comes from a place of love. I take it as something to feel flattered about,” explains Kapur.

The actor is currently basking in the compliments coming his way for his performance in the web show The Night Manager. “The biggest barometer for a web project’s success is what people you meet have to say. This one had something for everyone,” he gushes.

While Kapur has always been praised for his looks, is such praise for his performance a validation for his acting chops? He says, “I think they actually do (look at my acting now). In Ludo (2020), too, I played a character that was not necessarily glam — he was an oddball. Then, in Malang (2020), I had a different look. This show was a different type of project, and required a different kind of performance from me. It was totally something unique from what I had done before.”
