Shriya Pilgaonkar says she doesn’t obsess over social media; admits it helps to showcase different sides of an actor

Social media is an inseparable part of any actor’s life today. Connecting with their fans, promoting their work, sharing their sartorial sense —it all happens there. But how much is too much? Keeping a track of social media presence, different looks for different occasions —in such a scenario, doesn’t it lead to the focus wavering?
Shriya Pilgaonkar, who received good reviews for her recent performance in the show Taaza Khabar, says she does “as much as I can handle”.
The actor says, “I also look at a lot of these things as part of my job. One has to constantly reinvent with time. I feel social media today is a big part of our lives. As an actor, I have to look at things from an overall perspective.”
The Guilty Minds actor also asserts, “For me, I am still a believer in working on my craft, skills.. that is more important than how many posts I am putting on Instagram!”
The 33-year-old feels social media however acts as a medium to show the world different sides to you as an actor, through reels and pictures. This is also why actors get different shoots done primarily to post on their social media handles.
“Sometimes you have to spoon feed the audience or makers with what you are capable of. Not everyone can visualize you in different ways or looks. I use social media like that, and don’t stress about it,” says Pilgaonkar.
She adds, “I don’t have a social media team. So when I travel, I post travelling videos. I don’t obsess over my next post, like some people whose careers depend on social media completely. But, I think to each their own.”
