The long journey of being on the road for tours and performances has pushed singer-composer Akriti Kakar to give her fatigue a new direction. She reveals that it has helped her diversify and find a parallel plan.

“Since my work involves so much travel, it also involves fatigue. The idea to open a resort in Goa stemmed from the needs of people like us, who are keen on balancing work and their health,” says Kakar, who has opened a resort with her husband, Chirag Arora.

The singer continues, “We have opened an eco-wellness resort where you can meditate in the morning and celebrate in the evening. Trying new things and taking risks is essential for growth I feel.”

But, the Saturday Saturday (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, 2014) hitmaker doesn’t describe it as her plan B. “This is a parallel plan that found its way into our lives. And it’s always nice to have something to fall back on. If one really has to expand their horizons, then rather do it in what excites us the most, which for us was travel, wellness and food,” she says, adding, “It is a different ballgame, but we are ready for it.”

The Batti Gul (Batti Gul, 2016) singer’s year has started on a note of experimentation, which will be reflected in her music, too.

“Experimenting has been my middle name for years. I’ll be handling many projects at once such as making originals in Hindi, Punjabi and Bengali, travelling to various cities with our new concert concepts like performing with a grand symphony, and judging a Bengali reality show. It’s also time for the second season of Big Band Theory, which is my biggest experiment yet,” reveals Kakar.
