PATHAAN saw its first noticeable drop on Wednesday as collections came down 20% but it was still a solid collection. The drop was mainly in areas which had held up very strongly on Monday and Tuesday. The collections in Gujarat/Saurashtra and Uttar Pradesh saw drops of over 30% to bring them in line with other areas.

The collections on Wednesday were 17.25 crore nett which takes the film to over 332 crore nett and the week is looking at business of 347 crore nett which will be ahead of the lifetime of all Hindi films except DANGAL, KGF - CHAPTER 2 and BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION. The numbers of DANGAL and KGF - CHAPTER 2 will also be beaten soon enough with the BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION number being the challenge.

Despite the drop in UP on Wednesday, it continues to run riot in the Delhi/UP circuit and is practically certain to be the first 100 crore nett film in the circuit. Mumbai first hit 100 crore nett in 2014 with PK and since then, six other films have also hit 100 crore nett but for Delhi/UP it will be a first with PATHAAN.

Now it is all about the second Friday and the weekend which will again see huge collections.

PATHAAN has become the highest grossing Hindi film in Overseas as it crossed the numbers of DANGAL. This is the original HINDI film and not the dubbed/edited version which sometimes has travelled into non traditional markets mainly Far East. In the past, there have been films which grossed in Russia and China but they totally distort Hindi film history as the films are one offs and the tastes are so different there. The Russia story finished years back and the China story looks pretty much over now also as the sort of films which have to made to work in India are not really for China.

There are Hindi films in all formats which are higher than PATHAAN but in terms of the original film, this is the highest a film has ever gone in overseas and there is much more to come for PATHAAN. It will set a huge benchmark in Overseas which is certain to go to over $40 million and may even go to $45 million or $50 million.

Another point there is always talk and it probably comes from down South that BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION is the biggest film from India but that is not the case as DANGAL is the NUMBER ONE film from India as both these films released in many formats but the latter did more business. No doubt BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION is a better film but business for DANGAL is HIGHER.

PATHAAN (Hindi) has now grossed 656 crore worldwide in eight days and overseas will be the highest grosser ever when final figures come form the smaller circuits and India has a gross of almost 400 crore (332 cr nett).

The film will surpass the worldwide GROSS of DANGAL (Hindi) on Saturday which is 702 crore and then the chase is for the 801 crore of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION to become the highest grossing HINDI film of all time and this is sure to happen and hopefully before the end of the second week.

There was a drop in some overseas markets like US/Canada and Gulf but United Kingdom is outstanding with rock steady collections as it reached £2.54 million and a historic benchmark of £4 million may be on the cards. If it reaches £4 million, then out of the thousands of records the film has set so far, this will be the greatest. Its a number no one could dream of for any film from India be it single language or many and here PATHAAN is doing  record business in one language.
