Mumbai: Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan was slapped with a penalty of Rs 1,250 for violation of two traffic rules at Prabhadevi on Friday.

Aaryan, who had visited Siddhivinayak Temple with his parents around 1:00 pm, was penalized allegedly for parking his luxury sports car in the wrong direction. For this, he was issued a receipt of Rs 500 for wrong side parking.

The police said that before Aaryan entered the temple, he had been told not to park his vehicle at the spot, but the instruction was not heeded to. So, another challan for Rs 750 was issued under a section of the Motor Vehicle Act which deals with ‘disobedience of police order/ direction’.

He was issued the receipts when he stepped out of the temple. “Yes, the actor has been fined Rs 1,250 for violating two traffic rules...He has paid the penalty amount,” an officer from Dadar traffic police division told TOI.

The officer claimed that the police would do their job and said that action would be taken against whosoever, — be it an actor or any VIP — violates traffic rules.

Mumbai Traffic police posted a photo of Aaryan’s sports car on their Twitter handle (@MTPHereToHelp). Though the city traffic police did not mention the actor’s name in the tweet, their post had a sprinkling of references to films in which Aaryan has acted.

The Mumbai traffic police tweeted: “Problem? Problem yeh thi ki the car was parked on the wrong side! Don’t do the ‘Bhool’ of thinking that ‘Shehzadaas’ can flout traffic rules. ” The tweet also said: ‘#RulesAajKalAndForever.” The tweet was viewed over 80,000 times between February 18 and 19.

In February 2021, the Mumbai traffic police had issued an e-challan to actor Vivek Oberoi after he had been caught on camera riding his bike without a helmet. Similarly, in March 2018, an e-challan had been issued to actor Kunal Kemmu for traffic violation. In 2017, actor Varun Dhawan was penalized for leaning out of his car to click a selfie with a fan travelling in an autorickshaw.
