A well-imagined romance will always get Aditya Roy Kapur back to the genre. The actor is excited to join hands with director Anurag Basu once again for the project, Metro...In Dino, a romantic anthology that pairs him alongside Sara Ali Khan.

“There was a time when I wanted to experiment with other [characters], but I am happy to get back to romance now,” says Kapur, who earned acclaim for his roles in films like Aashiqui 2, with Shraddha Kapoor, and OK Jaanu.

Metro In Dino marks the actor’s second collaboration with Basu after the 2020 venture, Ludo. “Dada [Basu] gives his actors so much freedom that you feel there are infinite possibilities for you, and things turn out to be in your favour. He knows how to take the pressure of making a film away from his actors, and always tries to create something new on set. He doesn’t want you to rehearse too much, or come prepared.”

Meanwhile, Kapur filled the big boots of British actor Tom Hiddleston as he stepped into the role of an agent in the Indian adaptation of The Night Manager. The part that earned Hiddleston a Golden Globe, and was to initially be played by Hrithik Roshan, eventually landed in his lap.

“The writing is so rich! This is the first time that I will do a series. Exploring the long format is exciting because you get to hold on to a character for long. It’s a test match, not an ODI,” the actor says of the espionage thriller that revolves around an intriguing chase between a covert agent and a secret arms dealer. The remake also features Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala.
