BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER had a very good opening day as it easily breached the 10 crore nett mark with business around the 12 crore nett mark. This is the fourth highest opening for Hollywood post the pandemic and the third best this year.
The numbers are double of the first BLACK PANTHER film which opened at 5.50 crore nett in 2018. The collections could have been better but Mumbai circuit is not firing like it used for for Hollywood films which is also the case for Hindi films though some of these get saved by Gujarat which levels them up for the circuit number even though Maharashtra does not perform.
The film should emerge a success on the strength of this opening and the weekend should go to 40 crore nett plus. There will be growth over the weekend but Marvel films don't tend to show huge growth as they get a strong initials.
The top opening days for Hollywood films in India post the pandemic are as follows.
1. Spider-Man: No Way Home - 32,67,00,000
2. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness - 28,74,00,000
3. Thor: Love And Thunder - 18,48,00,000
4. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - 12,00,00,000 apprx
5. Jurassic World: Dominion - 8,22,00,000
