DRISHYAM 2 which will release on 18th November saw good results with its advance experiment. The advance was opened for one day only on Sunday (Gandhi Jayanti) with tickets on sale at half price and it managed to sell 4000 tickets at PVR and Inox and this was without listing on ticketing platforms like BookMyShow and PayTM.
This was the first time that advance has been opened with an offer like this and actually its not right to say advance has been opened as it was limited properties and just on that one day but results are good. A film like VIKRAM VEDHA would be selling around 6000 tickets at PVR and INOX on its first day of advance but that is with sales available across the board at all places and just one week before release. But in the case of DRISHYAM 2, the tickets were available just on the multiplex apps and sites that too well before release.
It is likely that the offer may well come up again sometime maybe on Diwali before the actual advance opens for the film before release and may well yield good results again. There are generally experiments happening on ticket pricing but its going to take some time to tell if this can actually work. The cinema day was a huge success but post that the cheaper ticket rates have not got the desired results.
