BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) dropped 55% on Monday as it collected around the 14 crore nett mark. The film did see better holds in mass pockets like CI (45% drop) and UP (state) but this is more to do with that these places have fewer cinemas with big ticket price drops on Monday. With the big films, these places generally hold better till Wednesday.

The drop is little less than in actual value than it looks as Maharashtra had a semi holiday on Friday and that has taken a bigger hit Monday. Nizam/Andhra also got some benefit from the semi holiday but surprisingly that held up better compared to Maharashtra. The film here will now cruise past the record of DANGAL for a Hindi film in a week and may even challenge AVENGERS: ENDGAME which has the highest figure for a non South film.

It would have been better if the drop was on the other side of 50% on Monday but it put up a huge weekend total and appreciation was less in B and C centres. And with business where it is, you take a 14 crore nett Monday which is still better than the OPENING day of all original Hindi films barring SOORYAVANSHI.

Now it is about where the second Friday lands and hopefully it will be 50% of Monday or better which would put in course for another very good weekend. The numbers of the film are a huge boost to industry breaking many myths over the last few months. It would have been great if the film found appreciation across the board but that was not to be.

The collections of BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) are as follows.
Friday - 31,00,00,000
Saturday - 35,00,00,000
Sunday - 38,50,00,000
Monday - 14,00,00,000
TOTAL - 1,08,50,00,000

The four day total in all formats is around 124 crore nett across India as regional versions collect 15.50 crore nett which is a record a for Hindi film. Normally there wouldn't be much coming from dubbed formats but this film can put up a decent number.

BRAHMASTRA saw excellent collections overseas as it collected around the $8 million mark which is comfortably the highest opening post the pandemic as no other film has crossed the $4 million mark. There are a few films with a $3 million plus weekend like SOORYAVANSHI, '83, KGF - CHAPTER 2 and LAAL SINGH CHADDHA but all were short of $4 million. This is also the sixth highest opening weekend of all time in Overseas though less if we take out Telugu.

The film was driven by the business in US/Canada which put an all time high of $4.5 million plus beating PADMAAVAT. But if we take out Telugu, then its the second highest opening ever after PADMAAVAT as that film did $4.4 million in Hindi alone. In Australia, it also took the fourth highest opening ever after PADMAAVAT, KGF - CHAPTER 2 and SANJU.

The performances were less in Gulf and United Kingdom but these markets are Muslim dominated and BRAHMASTRA had that Hindi mythology angle which would have kept some of this audience away. The record grosser overseas post pandemic is KGF - CHAPTER 2 with $9.1 million and this will cross that in the next couple of days. There will be a drop on weekdays as US/Canada will take a big hit.

The apprx collections of BRAHMASTRA overseas are as follows.
United Kingdom - £500,000 ($580,000)
USA / Canada - $4,550,000
Gulf - $1,200,000
Australia - A$903,000 ($620,000)
ROW - $1,150,000 apprx
TOTAL - $8,100,000 apprx (64 crore)
