For Shehnaaz, it’s a no-gift-no-rakhi policy!

He’s funny, she’s funnier, and they hardly let each other complete a sentence — that’s Shehnaaz Gill and her younger brother, singer Shehbaz Badesha, for you. Though in different cities at present, they hope to celebrate Rakhi together. “I’m in Mumbai, he’s in Punjab. Mann kiya toh ticket karaungi uski aane ki,” Shehnaaz quips.

But, the Honsla Rakh actor has a bone to pick with him: “I tie a rakhi every year, but he never gifts me anything. This time, I’ve laid down a condition that only if he gifts me something, I will tie him a rakhi.” To this, Shehbaz adds, “Bhai hi toh gift hota hai!”

Recalling memories of celebrations when they were kids, Shehbaz says, “We would wake up early morning and she’d tie me rakhi. I had no money to give her, so my parents would. I would start crying why I didn’t get any, so they would give me a small amount.”

Given that they are yet to collaborate professionally, are there any plans to pursue something soon? “Thodi bahut famous hoon, voh bhi khatam ho jaegi!” Shehnaaz laughs.

Fun and games aside, the brother-sister duo is very emotional about one another. “Shehbaz is very protective of me. Every brother-sister should be that way for each other. They should understand each other’s feelings and respect each other.” Shehbaz, on the other hand, attributes his entire life today to his sister: “I was no one. Whatever I am today is because of Shehnaaz. Any work or recognition I am getting now is because of her. I am very lucky to have a sister like her.”
