Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh, who recorded his statement before Chembur police on Monday as part of their probe into his posting nude pictures on social media, denied having uploaded any stark photo.

An FIR was registered against the actor under sections 509, 292, and 294 of IPC and Section 67(A) of the IT Act after a city NGO’s president lodged a complaint that he had hurt the sentiments of women in general and insulted their modesty.

“While he admitted to have uploaded a few pictures on social media, he denied uploading the picture which was stark. We are collecting technical evidence,” said an officer. Sources said he was asked details of the shoot contract, origin of the idea and who uploaded it on social media. Singh is believed to have told police that the shoot was not meant for India.

Ranveer was summoned earlier but as he was travelling for work, he had sought time. On Saturday he intimated senior police officials that he would be joining in the investigations on Monday. Singh arrived at 7:30am and was accompanied by his father and a lawyer. He left the police station around 9:30am.
