Regarded as one of Irrfan’s finest performances, Haasil (2003) was a powerful crime drama set against the backdrop of Allahabad University. Rumours are rife that director Tigmanshu Dhulia is adapting the Irrfan and Jimmy Sheirgill-starrer as a web series.

While the film had a love story and student politics at its core, Dhulia and his team of writers are broadening the narrative to weave in more sub-plots and new characters. “The filmmaker has been developing the series over the past year. After the success of the first season of The Great Indian Murder, Dhulia will soon begin filming the second edition. But before he dives into the Pratik Gandhi-starrer, he will finish scripting Haasil. Tigmanshu hopes to take this series on floors in the second half of 2022,” says a source.

When mid-day reached out to Dhulia, he confirmed the development, adding that he is more than half-done with the scripting.
