HINDUSTAN TIMES (April 28, 2022)

Actor Deepika Padukone made her red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017. And five years later, she will be a part of the main jury at the 75th edition of the film gala. On Tuesday night, organisers of the festival revealed the Jury President and jury members, who will select the winners of this year’s Palme d’Or honours.

Padukone took to Instagram to share the news with her fans and shared a collage of all the jury members, including her picture.

The other members include Oscar-winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, filmmakers Jeff Nichols, Ladj Ly and Joachim Trier, and actors Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace and Jasmine Trinca. French actor Vincent Lindon, who won Best Actor at Cannes in 2015, will head the jury.

With this, the Gehraiyaan actor joins the likes of actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Nandita Das and Vidya Balan, who have served on the Cannes jury in the previous years.

The Cannes Film Festival will begin on May 17 and the jury will announce this year’s winners at a gala ceremony on May 28.

Among the highlights in the competition this year is David Cronenberg’s dystopian sci-fi drama Crimes Of The Future, mystery thriller Decision To Leave from South Korea’s Park Chan-wook, among others, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
