(Crisp) Movie Review: RUNWAY 34 by FENIL SETA

Runway 34 has a novel premise for a Bollywood film. The track of the pilot trying to land the plane against all odds is gripping. One expects the fun to continue in the courtroom scenes as well. Sadly, here, the film goes downhill as the goings-on are boring and slow. The interrogation ought to have been tense and tight. Even the finale was okay though it was intended to be exhilarating. Certain developments are bewildering. Moreover, a few shots remind one of Denzil Washington-starrer Flight and should have been avoided. Ajay Devgn however is splendid as always. Amitabh Bachchan has a late entry but does very well, as expected. Rakul Preet Singh is a surprise and leaves a huge mark, especially in the first half. Boman Irani, Aakanksha Singh and Vijay Nikam fail to impress as their tracks are not well fleshed out. Angira Dhar is wasted. Flora Jacob (Alma Asthana) is memorable. Carry Minati plays himself. All in all, Runway 34 is an average fare and can be seen only for its nail biting first half.
My rating - ** ½ out of 5!
