Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore attempts to answer several questions which were raised by the second part in the franchise. This film is less complicated than the sequel. However, unlike part 1, the humour once again is limited and the mood is quite dark. Also, the first half is stretched. This 143 minute long film should have been shorter or rather, they should have peppered the narrative with some thrilling and dramatic scenes. Thankfully, the swivel scene gives the much needed humour to the viewers. The finale is also quite thrilling and saves the film. Speaking of performances, Eddie Redmayne is adorable as Newt. Jude Law gets a longer screen time and is impressive. Mads Mikkelsen gives his best, though one does miss Johnny Depp. Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) is his element. Jessica Williams (Lally) leaves a mark. Ezra Miller (Credence) and Alison Sudol (Queenie) are fine while Callum Turner (Theseus) is quite good this time. Katherine Waterston (Tina) is hardly there and this might disappoint fans. William Nadylam (Yusuf Kama), Victoria Yeates (Bunty) and Richard Coyle (Aberforth Dumbledore) are decent. All in all, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore is a decent watch and here’s hoping the next two parts are far better, as the series definitely has potential.
