Actor-musician Ammy Virk aspires to make a pan-India Punjabi movie. He made his Bollywood debut with filmmaker Kabir Khan’s 83 (2021) and is currently busy networking. Virk, who is also a producer, wants to broaden his horizon as a filmmaker. “I feel Qismat (2018; Punjabi film) should be remade in Hindi. We usually take 45 days to wrap up a film, but if we take 65 days, we can shoot a movie in both Hindi and Punjabi. We are trying to do that. I want to make Punjabi films with pan-India appeal,” Virk, 29, shares.
The actor is currently shooting for a project in Mumbai and says, “Mera dil lagta hai yahan pe”. Post the success of his last Hindi film, Virk admits he has been getting good offers. “I was waiting for good projects after 83. And now, I’m getting them. I have been offered lead and second lead roles. Kam kaam karenge, but achha karenge,” says Virk, revealing that he is doing a movie for filmmaker Karan Johar’s production house and has also signed a biopic.
Though several offers are unfolding for Virk, he’s clear that his turban is not going to restrict him. “I don’t think I get limited as an actor [due to the turban]. We all know that there is a Sikh community and I’m representing them. I want to explore everything with my turban on,” the Aaja Mexico Challiye actor shares.
