CBFC removes abuses from 'The Batman,' 'Jhund' passes sans cuts
Box Office India Trade Network

THE BATMAN scored a good first day as it collected 5.75 crore nett as it scored very well in Mumbai city, Delhi city and South India. The advance suggested a better first day total but with Hollywood films which collect well, the movement is slower on the day as the advance is strong.

The first day number is still very good for this type of film which despite being a superhero film is more on the niche side and is more like a dark thriller than an action film. The best market for the film was Nizam/Andhra which will finish with collections in the 80-85 lakh range. Mumbai circuit will be around 1.25 crore nett as Gujarat/Saurashtra did not perform well.

THE BATMAN released on Thursday but this was limited to IMAX properties and it scored 75 lakhs nett here from just 20 odd properties.

The collections of THE BATMAN till date are as follows.
Thursday - 75,00,000 apprx
Friday - 5,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 6,50,00,000 apprx

The Hindi release JHUND saw poor results on day with collections around 90 lakhs nett to 1 crore nett as only Maharashtra had some collections. The collections in the North were horrible with single figure audience counts at many shows across Delhi/UP and East Punjab.

The first day numbers are lower than Marathi film PAWANKHIND which collected around 1.25 crore nett on day one. In fact in Maharashtra the third Friday of this film was better than the first Friday of JHUND. Still if the film is going to have a chance anywhere, it will be Maharashtra.
