Sunny Deol appears to have a busy year ahead. The actor, who is currently filming Gadar 2 with director Anil Sharma in Lucknow, also has Apne sequel in the pipeline. But before he reunites with father Dharmendra and brother Bobby Deol in front of the camera for the family drama, Sunny will turn his attention to the Hindi remake of the Malayalam crime thriller, Joseph (2018).
If things go as per plan, the actor will kick off the shoot in April. Director M Padmakumar, who helmed the original starring Joju George, is shouldering the responsibility for the Hindi adaptation. “Sunny hopes to shoot it in the summer in a start-to-finish schedule. The narrative has been tweaked to appeal to the Hindi-speaking audience. The story is now set in Jaipur,” reveals a source. The supporting cast will be finalised soon.
The 2018 thriller revolves around the titular character, a sharp-witted retired cop who is brought on board to investigate a murder. While George’s performance earned him a special mention at the 2019 National Film Awards, the movie’s compelling plot has piqued curiosity, leading to the announcement of remakes in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
