Sanjay Kapoor: Sriram Raghavan makes something normal seem extraordinary

Over the past few days, rumours were rife that Sanjay Kapoor is the latest addition to the cast of Merry Christmas, which brings together the novel pairing of Katrina Kaif and south star Vijay Sethupathi. While he initially remained tight-lipped about it, Kapoor has now confirmed the development to mid-day, describing his upcoming collaboration with director Sriram Raghavan as “special”.

“I am looking forward to working under Sriram Raghavan’s vision. He is one of the best filmmakers of Hindi cinema [today],” says the actor, who was recently seen in The Fame Game.

Little is known about the project, except that leads Sethupathi and Kaif began shooting for it in Mumbai last December. While Kapoor is unwilling to divulge details about his role, he admits that like every artiste in Bollywood today, he has long cherished the idea of being part of Raghavan’s sharply written thrillers.

“I have been in awe of his style of storytelling ever since I saw Badlapur [2015]. After I watched Andhadhun [2018], I was certain that I would like to work with him some day. He knows the art of making something so normal seem extraordinary on screen.”
