RRR Glimpse: The Magic Of SS Rajamouli's Cinematic Universe Is Back
Box Office India Trade Network

RRR (Hindi) scored a very good first weekend of 74.50 crore nett with Sunday showing excellent growth and collections. The Sunday number was the highest figure post the pandemic and the first time a single day has gone over 30 crore nett (not counting SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME which had a huge bulk of revenue come from the South). The final Sunday number could go close to 32 crore nett. The weekend is the second highest post the pandemic after SOORYAVANSHI.

The Sunday saw extraordinary numbers at many places like CP, CI, Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha and Gujarat. The latter saw the highest single day numbers ever outside BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION with around 5.65 crore nett. SOORYAVANSHI was around 5.50 crore nett on Sunday which was Diwali period. Even the weakest cities for the film like Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar saw a 60-70% jump which meant a very good number from East Punjab on Sunday.

The business in Maharashtra is excellent but considering this belt leads for South dubbed films it could have been even better. Most circuits have scored higher than SOORYAVANSHI but Maharashtra is less and maybe it is because the Akshay Kumar-starrer was a Diwali release.

The trend is super strong for a mass film especially that Saturday growth as Sunday is always going to strong for a film for the wider audience. As mentioned earlier, the slight issue is that collections in Delhi NCR, Punjab and Mumbai city seem to be driven by higher ticket rates with occupancy being on the lower side. It remains to be seen how this plays out on Monday when there is a big drop in ticket rates. The single screens and smaller cities look like holding very well looking at the weekend trend.

The first weekend  business of RRR is as follows.
Friday - 19,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 24,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 31,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 74,50,00,000 apprx
