Spider-Man No Way Home review
Box Office India Trade Network

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME continues to do pretty good business on its FIFTH Friday as it collected around the 50 lakhs nett mark and this is better than the collections of '83 which collected around 25 lakhs nett on its FOURTH Friday. PUSHPA: THE RISE - PART 01 (Hindi) started to beat 83 post the second weekend of '83 and now SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME has gone ahead on the fourth weekend of '83. The SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME total stands at around 211 crore nett after the fifth Friday.

The huge failure of '83 is being put down to the Covid-19 and the Omicron threat which is possibly a PR exercise or the involved still actually believe they made a Sholay. The Coronavirus issue has affected all the films but what the pandemic does not stop is the sustaining of a film as long as cinemas stay open. The numbers will be lower but when a film works, they also come in for a longer period.

There is one reason and one reason only that SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME on its fifth Friday is doing double of the fourth Friday of 83 and that is because the audience has accepted the film and its the same for PUSHPA: THE RISE - PART 01 (Hindi).

The same Covid-19 issues are there for SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and PUSHPA: THE RISE - PART 01 (Hindi) but they are SUSTAINING and this is what accepted films do. Simply put if 83 (Hindi) was even decent, then it would have had better collections then PUSHPA: THE RISE - PART 01 (Hindi) and SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME yesterday.

You can blame Omicron and Covid-19 for the lower collections but when a film does not sustain, then its about the film and not external factors especially when the competition sustains so well in the same period. '83 has become the classic case outright rejection from the majority of the audience not being taken too well which is funny as it hardly looked a world beater from the trailer to begin with.
