While Punjabi music is one of the leading industries across the country, in 2021 Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh also became a hub of non-Punjabi music and saw a sharp rise in production of music videos there. With Chandigarh located at a vantage point sharing proximity to Punjab’s greenery and fields, and Himachal Pradesh’s scenic mountains within vicinity, the diverse landscape of this region is attracting music makers like never before. Last year heralded what many claim to be the beginning of an era for this region in music video filming.

Actor Arjun Bijlani has also been in and out of the region to shoot for his ventures. He says, “Chandigarh has a lot of talent, that is why it has become the hub. There are some lovely locations near the city and it’s easier to find romantic settings for songs which are mostly on the genre of love. I have also shot for couple of music videos there. I feel, this is just the beginning of a bigger boom to come into Chandigarh and this region as far as music video productions go, agey agey dekho hota hai kya. ”

CHANDIGARH IS NOT CROWDED, THAT MAKES IT SAFE AMID PANDEMIC: DHEERAJ
Actor Dheeraj Dhoopar returned to Chandigarh three times last year. He says, “I was recently in Chandigarh for a music video and it was my third music video there. The city is so beautiful, planned and not crowded, which makes it the safest bet to shoot in a crisis like the Coronavirus pandemic.”

VIBE OF CHANDIGARH IS DIFFERENT: JASMIN BHASIN
Jasmin Bhasin shot for Punjabi and Hindi numbers there. She says, “Chandigarh is a beautiful city and the vibe is very different from the rest of India. I shot a few music videos and fell in love with the city every time. I feel Chandigarh became the hub of shooting for music videos because the city has a modern and contemporary feel. It never makes you feel out of place, and it is a popular tourist destination. Also, in COVID times, the people of Chandigarh were very particular about following protocol. So, it was safer than other popular shooting spots in the country. ”

And Chandigarh being the capital has become the hub. ”
