After dabbling in varied roles in films and digital shows, Dibyendu Bhattacharya is now set to play a physicist in Roy Kapur Films and Emmay Entertainment’s upcoming series Rocket Boys. Starring Jim Sarbh and Ishwak, the story revolves around Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai, the renowned scientists who pioneered India’s nuclear programme.
“It is interesting to play a nuclear physicist in the series. It is [a role] I have never tried before,” says the actor, adding that he is thrilled to be a part of a series that showcases “how brilliant minds changed the course of history”. “India hasn’t seen too many real scientists being portrayed on screen, so it gives me a free hand to dig into my craft,” adds Bhattacharya, refusing to divulge the name of the nuclear scientist he is roped in to portray. The Sony LIV series that sees Nikkhil Advani as the showrunner is directed by Abhay Pannu and set to hit the screens mid-January.
