Ayushmann Khurrana’s filmography proves that he has an appetite for experimental subjects. Now, the actor has set his sights on a biopic. Khurrana is keen to play India’s golden boy at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra, should a biopic be made on him.

“I’m hugely inspired by what Neeraj Chopra has achieved on the world stage, [thus] making our nation incredibly proud,” says the actor, who is basking in the praise for his recent release Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. The Abhishek Kapoor-directed film, through the love story of its leads, makes a case for the inclusivity of the transgender community.

In his debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Chopra won the gold medal in javelin throw, becoming the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to have won an individual Olympic gold medal. Khurrana believes that his achievement deserves to be retold on the big screen.

“The resolve and the nerves of steel that he showcased at the Olympics need to be saluted. I would love to play him in a biopic if Neeraj chooses to not play himself on screen. The life stories of such heroes need to be told to people across the country.”
