'What A Movie': Rajinikanth Reviews Ranveer Singh's 83
Box Office India Trade Network

'83 (Hindi) had another fall in collections on Tuesday as it collected around 6 crore nett giving it a five day total of 57 crore nett. There was some cinemas that shut in Delhi in the evening and all of Delhi is completely shut today (Wednesday). This is going to cost the film around 10% and probably cost 2-3% loss yesterday due to the partial shut.

The bigger problem is the fall in collections elsewhere as most circuits are showing the drops. Although collections in metros are better, it is not helping the overall picture. If we take Mumbai circuit then when Mumbai and Pune is doing decent, you have Gujarat/Saurashtra being dull so this hardly helps the circuit overall. The holiday period will continue and there will be no competition this weekend and that is only plus.

The film has faced total rejection and the industry is in shock but as mentioned before there is always a risk of these type of films going this way and even on a good day it is a huge risk on these type of costs. So in reality, the rejection of this type of content is not as shocking as the industry thinks. The makers are in no mood to give up just yet as there was a video doing the rounds this morning of people clapping in the theatres and shouting how great the film is and how its award winning acting by the leads.

The last point we can agree with also as when you bore the crap out of the public, then awards can come as those who give awards are pretty much the same circle which praised the film on release and before. The actors of today should remember one thing that none of you are Dilip Kumar's or even close that the public will come and watch you for histrionics. Its about entertaining the audence and giving them their moneys worth, an attempt at histrionics will generally bore the audience.

The five day collections of '83 (Hindi) are as follows.
