It’s just been a few months since she moved to Goa, but Kavita Kaushik already feels at home there. Living and working on her ayurvedic brand from her villa in South Goa, with her husband and pets, she’s enjoying both, the hustle and the calm vibes of living here. Recently, she donated her hair for wigs that will go to cancer patients.

She says, “I lost my dad to cancer. Cancer is a word that’s very painful to me. He was a person I loved the most. A few months back I met a cancer patient in Goa, who was losing her hair due to chemotherapy. And she told me she doesn’t feel beautiful after losing hair. My words of solace didn’t help since I had such lovely, thick, long hair. So I decided to chop my tresses off and prove that women are not defined by their physical beauty, but through our individuality and uniqueness.”

Talking about the process of donation, she says, “In total it should be about nine inches of dry hair, tied in a rubber band and cut an inch above. To make a wig, hair from three people are required. So it’s important for more and more people to come forward and donate hair. It’s an all new look! To know that my hair can make someone else feel beautiful is amazing. I can go swimming in the ocean and not worry about my hair getting ruined and spend less time taking care of my lock.”

For the actor who’s lived in Mumbai for 20 years, how did the move to Goa happen? “During the lockdown, we launched our brand and wanted a bigger space to live and work, so we decided to get a villa in Goa,” she says.

About choosing Goa for the move, she says, “After my TV show FIR ended, I started travelling a lot. I hate being caged, and I felt that way when there was a long commitment with a project. Television doesn’t give you time for having a life. I’m not a person whose life’s ambition is only my career. Keeping all those things in mind, it was apt to move to Goa.”
