Misinformation, fake news and rumours surrounding Covid-19 has been creating a whole lot of panic among citizens. According to actor Radhika Madan, the best way of dealing with it is restricting one’s exposure to news. “My parents used to indulge in news a lot and I saw that it was taking a toll on their mental health. They used to get scared. So, I have told them to not consume too much of news,” she says.
The actor, who had come to her hometown, Delhi, prior to the imposition of lockdown, says that she has been spending time “counting her blessings”. She has also enrolled herself for a scriptwriting class. With shoots being stalled, Madan says that the lockdown is turning out to be a period of introspection.
“I was used to a lifestyle where work meant everything to me. Now, I realise that it’s important to balance things out and understand that work isn’t my life. I figured that I was just running a race and I didn’t know where I was headed. I wasn’t giving enough time to my relationships. Now, it’s my family’s health which is the most important thing,” she shares.
As she turns 26, today, the Angrezi Medium (2020) actor says that she’s looking forward to getting herself vaccinated. “Vaccination starting on a full-fledged manner is the best birthday gift,” she says. But she’s quick to point out that she would still be apprehensive about beginning shoots.
“Going out to start shooting depends on a lot of external factors. I wouldn’t want to be callous about it. It depends on where we’re shooting and how many people on the set are vaccinated. I wouldn’t want to put anybody’s life at risk on a set. We have to patiently try to weigh the pros and cons, and then start shooting,” Madan concludes.
