Sudha Chandran lost her father K D Chandran on May 16 due to multiple organ failure. K D Chandran (86) was a well-known actor, who was a part of films and TV shows. Remembering his words and all that she has learnt from him, Sudha said, “For me, he was not a normal father. He was the one who helped me come out of my struggle and convert my failure into success. Today, I see myself as a replica of him because he was also a go-getter and a fighter. He taught me to never give up on things. I still remember when I met with an accident and the amputation had to take place, he came to me, held my hand and said, ‘Don’t worry, I shall be the leg that you have lost.”

The National Award winning actress shared that she can feel his presence even now. “He was with me for the last 9-10 years especially after I lost my mom, so for me he is everywhere in the house. He used to wake up at 6 am and have his filter coffee being a South Indian. Then, he would read his newspaper and send messages to people. He used to watch movies. He would keep telling me just don’t keep acting. Try to listen, and understand what’s happening in our country. He would tell me it’s not just important to earn money, it is also important that you know how to enjoy your hard earned money. Even when I lost my mom in 2004, I was very emotional and he told me that when a person is born, one day he has to leave. It’s the reality of life, the earlier you understand and accept, the better for you. Don’t get too emotionally attached to things, be practical in life. He made me a practical, bold, strong, and stubborn person in life. I owe everything to him and my mother,” she said.
