Sachin Khedekar is all set to return as a host in the fifth season of the Marathi game show, Kon Honaar Crorepati. The actor had hosted the first two seasons of this show that began in the year 2013.

Sachin, who is excited to be back, is currently busy prepping for his part. “It is like a homecoming for me,” he says, adding, “Even though we have all the amenities to make our lives simpler, I still get nervous before going live on the show. I still feel like a newcomer, every time I start a new project. We have been doing mock sessions and thorough rehearsals.”

This project also marks his comeback to the small screen after six years. “My career as an actor began from television, and I feel it is a great medium to have a stronger connection with the audience. Compared to films and theatre, the audience tends to build a more personal rapport with the actors through the small screen. Hence, the reactions are stronger, and you just can’t afford to falter at your job,” he says.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Khedekar admits that he has been typecast. However, he hopes to break that image. “I hope to get meatier roles. I have been constantly trying for that to happen. In Bollywood, roles are either written for young actors or older actors. But middle-aged actors like me have to struggle to get lengthy, complex or layered characters to portray. That needs to change now. Which is why, I strongly feel that the web space has more scope for actors like me,” he shares.

Among the projects that Khedekar has is the Prabhas and Pooja Hegde led Radhe Shyam. Without divulging much about his role, he says, “I can’t say much, but I play a college dean in the film and it’s a great role.”
