ROOHI recorded the best numbers post the Coronavirus pandemic as it collected a
healthy 2.75 crore nett on its first day. These numbers looked
impossible after the advance on Wednesday evening but on the
day of release, audience came out which had not happened to films released since
the pandemic started.
This is probably down to a few factors with Mahashivratri being one,
then the film had decent music and there would have been some pent up
demand among the youth. This sort of 2.75 crore nett number has not come
for many Rajkummar Rao films before the pandemic. So getting it in this
situation is a good result.
ROOHI could have had 3 crore nett plus but the collections have been hit
in Maharashtra due to lockdowns and restrictions as Mumbai circuit
comes in lower than Delhi/UP. Mumbai would have probably not have been
higher than Delhi/UP as content is more for the Delhi/UP belt would
have been similar but here its around 15-20 lakh short. There are even
some multiplexes in a city like Pune which are not open yet.
East Punjab is also around 5 lakh short as no late shows in the Doaba
(Central Punjab) region. East Punjab could have been close to 30 lakhs
nett but has collected 23-24 lakhs nett. Delhi/NCR is best for the
film as Delhi/UP collects around 70-75 lakhs nett. The South India
circuits of Nizam/Andhra and Mysore are also pretty decent for a film
like this.
The films below are the top openers post Covid-19 and they are the only
films to open above 10 lakhs nett on day one. ROOHI is comfortably the
best of the lot.
1. Roohi - 2,75,00,000 apprx
