Aditi Rao Hydari, who has been a part of Hindi films like Delhi-6 (2009), Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011), Rockstar (2011) and Padmaavat (2018), has also acted in many noteworthy South movies. In fact, the actress made her debut with regional films before working in Bollywood. After Sringaram in 2007, she returned to Tamil films a decade later with Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai (2017), and has since been working in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies consistently.
Aditi points out that though Sringaram was her debut Tamil film, it introduced her as a dancer. She says, “I wasn’t an actor when I did the film. I had been dancing since I was five years old and they needed a trained classical dancer for the project. The makers saw me dancing at a dance festival in Chennai and signed me for it.”
Talking about being a part of films of various languages, she says, “Stories make you feel, and these feelings have no language; they are universal. So, if I get a good script, co-star, director and team, I won’t hesitate to do the film.”
The actress, who had teamed up with Mani Ratnam for two projects, Kaatru Veliyidai and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, says she is a huge admirer of his work and always looks forward to collaborate with the filmmaker. “The thought of working with him multiple times makes me do a victory dance,” she signs off.
