In December last year, Fardeen Khan turned heads as he stepped out of the airport in Mumbai after returning from the United Kingdom, with plans to resurrect his Bollywood career. His massive weight loss was a hot topic of discussion on social media. While talking to BT at that time, the actor had confessed that he is open to acting opportunities and is all set to return to movies after a long hiatus.
During our recent chat with filmmaker Anees Bazmee, we broached the topic of the No Entry sequel, which has been in talks for many years.
The film, which had hit the screen in 2005, was headlined by Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Fardeen, along with Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol and Celina Jaitly and produced by Boney Kapoor.
With Fardeen returning to Mumbai, we asked the director whether he is planning to approach some of his original cast for the sequel. The director said, “No Entry was liked widely, and just like everyone else, I am excited about the sequel. That's the reason I started writing the script. I had a year to finish it, and now, it’s ready and has turned out well. It’s one of my favourite scripts so far. We have titled it, No Entry Mein Entry. I would be thrilled to make it, but if you want to know when it will go on floors, Boney Kapoor would be the right person to answer the question. As a writer and director, I am ready, he just needs to give me the go-ahead.”
Speaking of Fardeen, the director shared, “He is a friend. He was wonderful in the first film. I saw a picture of a handsome guy sometime back, and I was quite stunned to know it was Fardeen. He called later and asked, 'Anees bhai, kaisa laga aapko photo?' I complimented him. He deserved it. Of course, he has always been a good-looking guy, but to lose so much weight is not a joke. He is healthy now. He asked me, ‘Kya karna hai?’ I told him that I am waiting for the No Entry sequel to begin. He is also looking forward to it. Usne bhi kaha ki shuru karte hai. We are just waiting for Boney ji now.”
In a recent interview with BT, talking about returning to films, Fardeen said, “My last release was in 2010. I did want to take a break from Bollywood, but it turned out to be much longer than I had anticipated. Sometimes, life just turns out the way it does. But now I am back and keen to do what I know best — acting. I have grown up in this film industry and this is where I belong. The process of telling a story is what I have always loved, and this is an exciting time.”
