The box office in China saw its greatest weekend ever with around $700
million coming from all the films released with the two big new
releases films getting $560 million plus between them. The previous best
seen in China was $500 million plus in 2018.
It is the Chinese New Year which is the best time for box office
collections in China. The $500m plus in 2018 also came in the same New
Year week. DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 3 collected almost $400m making it the
highest weekend numbers ever in any country. AVENGERS: ENDGAME had
collected $350 million plus in North America in 2019.
The other big release HI MOM collected $162 million but this film will
go ahead of DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 3 over the weekdays as the advances from
Monday onward are better. The Monday numbers for this film will surpass
Sunday which was the best day over the weekend. The collections in
China are like as if there has been no Coronavirus and it will be no surprise
if both these films collect over $1 billion between them.
