New Delhi: Twitter took down three tweets by actor Kangana Ranaut for “violating” its rules on Thursday.
“We have taken action on Tweets that were in violation of the Twitter Rules in line with our range of enforcement options,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement, although the microblogging platform did not clarify what rules the tweets violated.
One of the posts, which was taken down was a reply to cricketer Rohit Sharma, who, along with Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina who had posted tweets with coordinated hashtags -- #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda. The posts were indirectly reacting to international pop star Rihanna, who had come out in support of farmers protesting against the new laws.
Ranaut, a vocal supporter of the laws, referred to far mers as “terrorists causing ruckus” in the tweet, while also referring to Sharma in a derogatory manner.
