The Telugu film KRACK has done well as it set a post pandemic new high
with collections of 9 crore nett on day one and its held pretty well on
Monday but for the Telugu industry where the mass crowds are back its
now about when films start to hold better. A few weeks back SOLO BRATHUKE SO BETTER did well initially but could not sustain so well.
Still it managed to get a share of 12 crore plus on costs of around 9
crore. The business of KRACK till date is 15.50 crore nett across India
with 14.50 crore nett coming from Nizam/Andhra and 1 crore nett from
the rest of India (mainly Bangalore). The Hollywood films seem to have
got better terms for distributors post Coronavirus but it seems to be
opposite in Telugu with SOLO BRATHUKE SO BETTER and this could also be
the case with KRACK.
The three day business of KRACK all over India is
as follows.
Saturday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 9,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 15,50,00,000 apprx
The film has to cover costs of 16-17 crore in Nizam/Andhra meaning it needs to go to around 27-28 crore nett which should not be an issue though how much further it can is another question as business is looking very front loaded at the moment.
The biggest test is coming with MASTER (Tamil) as that film has a 60 crore price tag in Tamil Nadu and no doubt the initial is looking as strong as it can be with reduced capacities but it will have sustain also to go above the its costs. This is not an easy task in a pandemic as the highest shares in Tamil Nadu are VISWASAM at 75 crore and BIGIL at 78 crore and then BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION at 85 crore. It would be great confidence for all the film industries in India if this film hits its target.
