The darwaaza tod cop Dayanand Shetty is all set to return to the small screen, but this time as a host of the show Savdhaan India FIR. In an exclusive chat, the actor who prefers to keep a low-profile, said, “Yes, I am back on TV and this is for the first time I will be hosting a show. This is something similar to what I have done in the past, so I don’t think there should be any difficulty. Itne saal maine CID kiya hai toh I don’t think zyada preparation ki zaroorat padegi mujhe,” says Daya.

Talking about CID, Daya also revealed that the entire cast of the show is likely to make a comeback on the small screen later this year. “We have been approached in the past, too, by different channels, but things didn’t materialise. But this time around, if all goes well, we may all come back together. Of course the format of this show will be different.”

Ask him if he was happy being typecast as a CID cop for over two decades and pat comes the reply, “Doing CID was not a 9 to 5 job for me or anyone of us. We used to enjoy shooting each episode. The USP of that show was shooting with different actors and locations every time. So, there was no stagnation or boredom. I have been offered different shows, too, like saas bahu sagas. But the kind of body and built I have, I don’t think I will be able to fit in a saas bahu show! I am happy sticking to my kind of genre, and I am happy and blessed being typecast as a cop.”

Daya, who is not on any social media platform, says that he keeps reading about the following the show has there. “I’m aware of it, but I don’t want to be on any social media platform. I am better off like this. When I hear the not-so-good experiences of people, I feel happy that I am not there. Even on WhatsApp, I came very late, that too because it became a necessity for us. Social media ek beemari hai, ek menace hai according to me.”
