Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday arrested two alleged key drug suppliers and claimed to have completed the drug peddling trail linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. The NCB on Wednesday raided the flats of DJ Rigel Mahakal alias Jinendra Jain (41) and his mentor Mohammed Azam Jumman Shaikh (45) and recovered 5kg of malana cream worth Rs 2.5 crore, a small quantity of Ecstasy pills, opium and Rs 13.5 lakh.
Malana cream, a form of hashish, was being sold for Rs 50 lakh per kg. The most desirable charas in the world, it is grown in Malana region of Himachal Pradesh. Its price in the international market ranges from 40-50 lakh per kg.
NCB officials said that both were booked under sections of the NDPS Act which attracts a minimum punishment of 10 years and fine. While Jain has been sent to NCB custody till December 11, Shaikh will be produced in the court on Thursday.
Jain and Azam Shaikh are the 27th and 28th to be arrested in the FIR in which Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Abdul Basit, Zaid Vilatra, Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda were arrested by NCB in the drugs case pertaining to actor Sushant Singh’s death case.
A team led by zonal director of NCB, Sameer Wankhede, raided Jain’s flat in Manish Nagar in Four Bungalows locality of Andheri and arrested Jain who is believed to be the kingpin of drug suppliers.
“Jain’s name had cropped up during the interrogations of another key accused, Anuj Keshwani, from whom we have recovered commercial quantities of drugs besides cash in September and since then he has been evading arrest. He was not coming to NCB office for questioning. Jain’s interrogation led us to his mentor Azam Shaikh from whom we recovered 5 kg of malana cream, a small quantity of opium, Ecstasy tablets and cash,” said an official.
He said Azam used to get drugs from Himachal Pradesh and gave them to Jain who sold it to Keshwani who supplied these to peddler, Kaizan Ibrahim, who passed them on to Sushant Singh Rajput’s cook.
NCB officials said they are likely to arrest a few more “big drug suppliers” in a day or two.
