Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has used the past few months, which she spent at home, to complete her book that is likely to hit the shelves soon. She has penned a thriller, a genre that Ashwiny admits she had not quite seen herself exploring. The writer-filmmaker says, “I have been working on the book for a while, and have finally finished it. The past few months gave me the time to diligently and religiously work on it. Of course, there were days when I couldn’t get myself to write, but one has to get past creative blocks. Also, this time at home made me look at things differently. It underlined the importance and the relevance of doing one thing at a time calmly.”

With the thriller, Ashwiny delves into a genre that she hasn’t attempted before. Her projects till date include socially-relevant movies like Nil Battey Sannata (2013) or slice-of-life films like Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and Panga (2020). Ashwiny says, “The book has helped me explore a world, which is different from the films that I make. I realised that there is another side to me, which exists and that came out in a more intimate kind of writing. I am now fine-tuning the book before sharing a copy with publishers. Once published, I am thinking of making a film on it. It’s a very different space to explore for me as a filmmaker.”
