Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in its reply before Bombay High Court has denied allegations made by Dipesh Sawant, cook of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, of “illegal detention” in the drugs case being probed as part of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide.

The Bombay High Court had granted bail to Sawant on October 7.

Sawant’s lawyer said that he had been arrested on September 4 and was produced in the court only on September 6, and not within 24 hours as mandated under the law. He has also sought Rs 10 lakh as compensation from the central government.

A division bench of Justices S S Shinde and M S Karnik on Monday heard the plea by Sawant.

Additional solicitor general Anil Singh, representing the Narcotics Control Bureau, submitted the affidavit and said that the Narcotics Control Bureau has an arrest memo signed by Sawant that mentioned he had been arrested and that he had been brought to the central agency’s office on September 5 and that his brother Vivek also accompanied him to the office of the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Singh submitted that Sawant’s signature on the memo was not disputed.
