BOMBAY TIMES (November 19, 2020)

Cinema halls in Mumbai have opened their doors for movie lovers after over seven months, and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is among the first films that released in theatres on November 15. On Tuesday, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, along with his daughter Ira, turned up at a theatre to watch the movie on the big screen. The actor, who showed his support for the theatrical screening and viewing of films with adequate safety measures in place, took to social media and wrote, “On my way to see Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari in a Cinema Hall. Really looking forward to the big screen experience, after so long (sic)!”

Aamir interacted with the media briefly post the film’s screening and praised the cast of the film, including Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Annu Kapoor. When Manoj got to know of Aamir’s visit to the cinema hall, he thanked him for the gesture. “Thank you @aamir_khan for supporting #SurajPeMangalBhari and opening of the cinema halls (sic),” he tweeted.

Like Aamir, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, too, had watched Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet in a theatre when the film released in August. He had shared a video on social media that showed him travelling to the cinema hall. “Here we are, back to the movies,” he was heard saying as he looked at a massive poster of the Hollywood film.

With Aamir leading the way in Bollywood, let’s hope that it encourages more filmmakers to release their films on the big screen and draws the audiences back to the theatres, where they love watching their favourite movies.
